AB Tutor v8: How to set the connection password after installation

This article applies to:
- AB Tutor v8

When pushing out installations of the AB Tutor client software to multiple machines, it is not always possible to set the connection password in advance. This can instead be done after the installation from the Tutor software.

To do this:
  • Load the tutor software in administrator mode
  • Ensure the machines to modify are in the list (note that you won't be able to connect to them if the connection password is set on your Tutor machine)
  • Select the machines to be updated (ctrl+a will select all computers in the list, shift and ctrl can be used to select specific machines)
  • Go to the Tools menu and Connection Security
  • Select the Change Remote tab
  • Leave the current remote password blank and enter the new password in the New Connection Password and Confirm Password fields.
  • Select Send and the new password will be pushed out to all the selected machines.

This method will also work for changing passwords at a later date, but please note that you will need to enter the remote machine's current password, instead of leaving the current password field blank.

If you have problems changing the connection password with this method, please ensure that the machine in question has not been added to a group with a group connection password already set.

If you don't manage to get all the new client machines, these instructions can be repeated on further machines as they're installed.
